Leading Global Discussions to Transform the Aging Experience
One of the biggest global challenges facing the world today is the aging of society. For the first time in human history, there are more older people in the world than younger people. Healthcare systems are not prepared to accommodate this unprecedented population shift. Home care has become an essential solution to relieve the burden on traditional institutions. Home Instead Senior Care is taking the lead in changing societal and governmental norms to make relationship-based home care a successful and scalable global option.
According to a recent study by the Global Coalition on Aging on the European Elderly Care crisis by 2060, 155 million Europeans — 30% of the total population — will be aged 65 or older. This unprecedented ageing points to a significant and growing need for care.
In Ireland, for example, Home Instead Senior Care was the first private care service to operate in the country. Master Franchisees Ed Murphy and Mick Kearney were strong advocates for lowering home care fees, successfully making in-home care a more accessible and affordable option.
Australia recently shifted its social and welfare regulations to allow seniors to decide who provides their care, instead of the government deciding for them. Home Instead in Australia, led by Master Franchisees Martin & Sarah Warner, was instrumental in lobbying for this change.
Franchise partners and their teams in every market, along with members of the Home Instead, Inc. senior leadership team, are making tremendous strides in integrating relationship-based home care into the healthcare ecosystem and are playing leading roles in the most important global conversations on aging and care. Below are just a few of the organizations Home Instead allies itself with to pursue solutions to the global aging challenge and to shape international policies that can help ensure seniors and their families receive the support and care they need.
Beyond our passion to drive social change, our mission and vision inspire us to give generously. There are many ways Home Instead Senior Care franchises around the world strive to directly enhance the lives of seniors and their families outside beyond providing services. Many global franchise partners actively lead community service events, initiatives and programs.
Global franchise partners also give back by providing free educational resources to support family caregivers in their communities, including dementia care training workshops, guidebooks and online resources.
Additionally, Home Instead charitable foundations in multiple countries support initiatives that enhance the lives of older adults and those who care for them.
