Three Decades of Home Instead's Experience

Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead® in 1994 with one goal in mind: provide compassionate care to ageing adults from the comfort of their own home. Their personal experience helping Paul’s grandmother, Eleanor, receive in-home care stirred their passion to enable other families to do the same. Since then, Home Instead has uncovered a worldwide need for in-home care services for the elderly and launched an industry that could help address the global ageing challenge.

Paul Hogan
Hogan Paul

Founder and Chairman

Paul's inspiration for Home Instead came from serving as the family caregiver for his grandmother, Eleanor, who was in need of consistent, compassionate care outside of a nursing facility. Today, he tirelessly works to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families by serving on a number of global boards, including the World Dementia Council. Paul has also served as a governor for the Future of Health and Health Care System at the World Economic Forum (WEF), vice chair for the WEF Global Agenda Council on Ageing and as a steward for the WEF System on the Future of Education, Gender and Work. For his success in exporting the home care business concept to other countries, Paul was awarded the President’s “E” Award by the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2008, and in 2016, he received the “E” Star Award for continued excellence in exporting. In recognition of his contributions to franchising, Paul was named the Entrepreneur of the Year for 2006 by the International Franchise Association.
